With an aim to get over 3.5 million people active, the new sports strategy shows how government investment in both public and private facilities will encourage more people to get involved in sports all over the UK.

The government have released their latest sports initiative – Get Active: a strategy for the future of sports and physical activity. This document is the first to be published on the subject since 2015 and outlines aims to encourage the increased physical activity of both adults and children by 2030.

The Initiative

The initiative highlights three main focuses on encouraging physical activity as well as ensuring spaces are inclusive and sustainable.

It recognises the struggle both public and private services have faced during and post pandemic due to a decline in activity at sporting facilities. Therefore, the strategy discusses how the government will invest in organisations for areas with high levels of inactivity. They also reference how they will encourage clubs through providing access to additional forms of investment through associations such as Sports England.
