Kingfisher Lighting were invited to create an aesthetic, powerful and functional scheme for many areas of the site, including the running track, pedestrian areas and car parks of this busy multi-use park.
Careful consideration was given to the luminaire selection in order to offer a powerful, non-glare output which lends itself to a range of activities and year-round usage.
Our Italo 1 was selected with its range of optics alongside it’s sleek aesthetic. With an effective reflector-based system, this luminaire was the perfect choice due to it’s efficient, yet powerful and low glare output. These were coupled with a bespoke, curved column design line the running track area of the UTC. This installation offers effective lighting to both the plaza and athletics tracks at the flick of a switch.
Inground fittings were used encase the Olympic cauldron, which is visible from the sports areas. These efficient, recessed luminaires were chosen to highlight the architecture of this iconic sculpture and create a feature of the origins of the park.
Control system – With the park playing host to many activities and events, it was imperative to create a versatile scheme that will support both pedestrian, sporting and event illumination. Our control system was programmed to increase the output of the fittings by 50% for the duration of events.
