What do we consider to be harsh environments & what’s the damage?

In the sports and high mast world, when we refer to ‘harsh environments’, we are referring to the key factors that can be particularly damaging to lighting fixtures, masts and accessories. These include:

In the UK, the most common harsh environments include coastal locations such as ports and docklands, airports, highlands and moisture rich areas.

What would happen if I used standard luminaires?

To use ordinary flood luminaires in these applications would risk corrosion, the breakage of seals and glands as well as overall decreasing performance with higher degradation rates. This not only leaves a subpar illumination but also gives an abysmal finish for your site.
